Salary: $16.57 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week

NATURE OF THE WORK: Under the supervision of the office supervisor, the bilingual community health worker carries out awareness activities for the cancer screening services program. Activities include attendance at health fairs, community events, visits from health care providers, health presentations and other outreach activities. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting staff with interpretation services for clients and program staff; assist secretarial staff with answering phones, handling mail, scheduling appointments and contacting clients for registration and follow-up.
Must have a personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with Department of Health policies and must possess a valid motor vehicle driver’s license in the State of Maryland. May require occasional evening and weekend assignments.
Minimum qualifications
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a state high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Ability to communicate verbally fluently, in English and Spanish. Some familiarity with medical terminology is preferred but not required.
