Brunswick County Launches 2022 Community Health Assessment

BOLIVIA, NC – Brunswick County Health Services, in partnership with Dosher Memorial Hospital and Novant Health, has launched the 2022 Community Health Assessment (CHA) for Brunswick County. The assessment is one of many important steps in addressing the health needs and concerns of residents across the county.

“We look forward to working with Novant Health and Dosher Memorial Hospital to conduct this year’s Community Health Assessment,” said Brunswick County Health Services Director Cris Harrelson. “The assessment will help us all pursue our shared mission of promoting access to affordable care, treatment and community resources to improve the well-being of all residents.

Every three years, health information is collected from Brunswick County residents through a Community Health Assessment. The results are then used to create a community health improvement plan to bring measurable change over the next three years.

On May 26, more than 30 Brunswick County stakeholders participated in the kick-off meeting held at the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension building in Bolivia. The purpose of the meeting was to formally establish the ACS Steering Committee and discuss community engagement, outreach and data collection strategies for the Community Health Opinion Survey to be administered this summer. .

“Being part of this committee is a great opportunity to help improve health outcomes for residents of our county,” said Lynda Stanley, President and CEO of Dosher Memorial Hospital. “I feel like I am doing my part to make a positive difference in the lives of my family, friends and neighbors by attending these meetings. I encourage anyone who is passionate about the health of our community members to participate in this assessment and be part of our planning process.
