Centraide organizes its first free community health fair

The United Way of Lamar County will hold its first FREE Community Health Fair on tuesday july 12 to Civic Center of Love from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to over 30 vendors, speakers, live demonstrations and free screenings, there will be a free hot dog lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and door prizes offered every hour.

United Way Executive Director Jenny Wilson said, “We are thrilled to be hosting this free health fair for our community and hope everyone comes! I also want to thank all of the healthcare providers and vendors who planned this with us for their support. »

Providers will provide the following services: Blood Pressure Screening and Blood Pressure Records, Glucose Screening, HIV/HEP-C Screening, Weight and BMI Screening, Traumatic Injury Prevention, Stroke Information brain and chest pain, passenger safety program for children and car seats, safe sleep education, nutrition information, palliative care information and subsidies, home health information, assistance with seniors, veterans services, information on birth control, breastfeeding, and other gynecology topics, information on volunteer opportunities and the health benefits of volunteering, information on eligibility for Regional Agency on Ageing, Elder Law – Estate Planning; wills; Trusts, health plan education and enrollment for STAR (Medicaid) programs, Medicare health insurance and supplement information, Tanita body composition analyzer, flu and Covid vaccinations, Senior Service, driving safety, drug and alcohol treatment and mental health first aid.

Tuesday speakers will include Wesley Smith, Ending Well (10am); Mindy Ramirez & Katie Stone, Advance Directives, Powers of Attorney and Other Long-Term Estate Planning (10:30 a.m.); Ruth Brown, 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease (11 p.m.); Annete Cooke, dietitian (11:30 a.m.); Dr. Allison Ward-Moore, Breastfeeding (2 p.m.); Dr. Allison Ward-Moore, Menopause (2:30 p.m.) and Avery Drennen, PT, Pelvic Health Physiotherapy (3 p.m.).
