Community Health Fair is coming to Port Huron – The Voice

Lake Huron Medical Center will host its third annual Community Health Fair free to the public on September 24.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the main campus of the LHMC, located at 2601 Electric Ave. in Port Huron.

“It will be a great time with our community,” said Jana Simpson, LHMC’s director of marketing and communications. “Lots of fun, giveaways and prizes, activities for the kids, free health checkups and our very own Lake Huron Foundation Heavenly Hound therapy dogs.”

Simpson said there would be “tons” of giveaways and prizes.

“We have almost 40 prizes to give away and lots of giveaways,” she said. “We are grateful to our local businesses and organizations who stepped up and donated prizes. We have such a generous community.

She said a children’s bike and a hoverboard will be offered.

At the fair there will also be free school supplies, a live DJ, entertainment, a bouncy house, face paint, food, Michigan State Police child ID cards and garden games, says the Facebook event page.

Additionally, Simpson noted that Tri-Hospital EMS, U.S. Coast Guard, Port Huron Fire Department, Marysville Police K-9 Unit, and St. Clair County Dive Team will be in attendance, as well as many community organizations, including St. Clair County Community Mental Health, St. Clair County Community College with the SC4 dance team and Skip the mascot, YMCA of the Blue Water Area, Visiting Nurse Association, and Blue Water Hospice, Grace Hospice, Hunter Hospitality House, Hope FM, Blue Water Community Action, Port Huron X-treme Dance Team and more.

Simpson said the community health fair has been in the works for months.

“It happened because our staff and doctors want our community to know that we are there for them and that we care about our community,” she said. “Our hospital hopes our community will feel loved and supported through this event. Personally, I’m very happy to see the community having a fun day together and experiencing the great things we have to offer at our award-winning hospital.

She noted that the event is completely free, as there is no cost to attend or for any of the entertainment offered.

“It will be a fun day for all ages,” she said.

Additionally, on the Wednesday before the fair, September 21, the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a grand opening for the Lake Huron Medical Center’s Marysville Campus, located at 1985 Gratiot Blvd. The public is invited to gather at 4 p.m., and the ceremony will begin at 4:15 p.m.
