David Raines Community Health Centers Selected as Business of the Year Recipient at Shreveport Chamber’s MBOA Dinner

On Wednesday, June 15, the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce honored David Raines Community Health Centers (DRCHC) as the recipient of the 2022 Business of the Year at the Minority Business Opportunity Awards dinner. This award recognizes an established business that creates opportunities for minority-owned businesses and/or minority-owned people and has a strong philanthropic commitment to the community. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of DRCHC as a Federally Qualified Health Center and more than 50 years of access to quality health care in the community through six Community Health Centers, six Health Centers school and two pharmacies serving almost 15,000 patients in Caddo, Bossier, Webster and Claiborne parishes. Providing comprehensive family medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, behavioral health, optometry and pharmacy services for women, infants and children (WIC), DRCHC emphasizes accessibility, affordability and the creation of a medical home to increase access for all, including fully insured, uninsured and underserved residents.

Along with a commitment to providing world-class healthcare, this honor recognizes DRCHC’s dedication to giving back to the communities they serve. Willie White, general manager, acknowledged that “no one accomplishes anything alone,” a testament to DRCHC’s partnerships with local organizations such as United Way of Northwest Louisiana packing disaster relief bags during the Day of Caring and the City of Shreveport helping give a community a member’s home a makeover during Paint Your Heart Out. Every year at Christmas, DRCHC organizes a toy drive for families in need. In 2021, DRCHC provided 134 children with toys for the holiday season. Finally, DRCHC attends community health and resource fairs offering free wellness checks, vaccinations and health education, providing services at 64 community events in 2021 alone. Mr. White said closed acceptance of the award by stating, “On behalf of our Board of Directors, our staff and the 15,000 patients we serve, we thank you for this honor and we will continue to provide these quality services to all those who needs the help we have to offer.
