National University receives $4 million grant from Health Resources and Services Administration
National University A nurse-run clinic has been awarded an HRSA grant to expand mobile health care delivery to underserved communities.
SAN DIEGO, July 25, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — National Universitya non-profit university dedicated to adult learners, graduated with a 4-year degree $4 million grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), as part of the education, practice, quality, and retention of nurses (NEPQR) , in support of the National University Nurse Managed Clinic Project (NUNMC).
The NUNMC initiative was created to promote access to health care in underserved communities and uses an interprofessional health team approach through collaborations with trained professionals and faculty-supervised students. The team will provide on-site primary and behavioral health care in six San Diego and Los Angeles communities, in association with the affiliated clinics of National University such as community and faith-based organizations. This HRSA grant, funded at $1 million per year, expand the existing nurse-led mobile health clinic to reach more medically underserved communities and increase access to primary health care services.

The student grant National University as a primary source of advanced nursing skills for students while providing accessible health care to an underrepresented population using state-of-the-art telehealth technology. The concept of telehealth technology introduced by Dr. McNeal will allow students to practice in a simulated environment and hone skills necessary for the job, such as remote monitoring of biometric data without compromising the health and safety of patients or students. . Students who meet the minority and underserved criteria under the NUNMC project will receive $10,000 per year for tuition fees and other related expenses.
