A local nonprofit has donated $135,000 to elevate community health programs in eastern Idaho

POCATELLO — During a media event Thursday, Pocatello’s Portneuf Health Trust announced a $135,000 donation to United Way of Southeastern Idaho that will provide critical support to community health-focused nonprofit organizations in our area.

“The Portneuf Health Trust is proud to continue to help fund health programs through the United Way,” said Shaun Menchaca, President and CEO of the Portneuf Health Trust, who presented a check to United Way on Thursday. “United Way has a very well-organized granting process that ensures that our contributions are spent wisely on organizations and projects that benefit the health of our community every day.

Portneuf Health Trust’s donation will help fund health-related grants for local non-profit organizations as part of United Way’s annual community investment process, said Molly Olson, Acting CEO of United Way South East. from Idaho.

“Our mission at United Way is to build powerful partnerships that improve outcomes for children, families and people in need,” said Molly Olson, interim CEO of United Way of Southeastern Idaho. “One way to do this is to invest in initiatives in our local community that address health needs. This is exactly what is happening here. »

Last year’s donation from the Portneuf Health Trust directly supported eight programs that served 4,238 needy community members in southeast Idaho.

“Portneuf Health Trust has a strong history of partnering with the United Way of Southeast Idaho to improve community health,” Olson said. “We are very honored to be considered their trusted vehicle to provide our community with the health care assistance it needs.”

In addition to financial support, the Portneuf Health Trust’s partnership with United Way’s in-house health-focused programs helped create major traction toward improving overall health outcomes for Pocatello.

“Portneuf Health Trust’s support of programs like findhelp.org is important to our community,” said Amy Wuest, Director of Community Resources for United Way of Southeast Idaho.

Findhelp.org is a free, one-stop website for finding community resources available to anyone in need.

“Portneuf Health Trust quickly saw the value of findhelp.org and is working with United Way to provide free training to nonprofits in Southeast Idaho.”
