River Ridge, Univ. of Lynchburg team up for Community Health Fair

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Through a partnership between River Ridge and Lynchburg University, the mall will host the largest regional health trade show the community has seen in the past two years on Friday.

Presented by Lynchburg University, organizers say this free health fair – “Passport to Healthy Aging” – is designed for those 50 and over, with the aim of raising awareness about healthy living, providing general health screenings and awareness of resources and services available in the community.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 25 near Regal Cinemas.

“We know how important self-care is, especially these days, which is why we’re excited to be hosting this health fair with our partners, as a way for adults to get active and take charge. their health,” said Lauren Spencer, retail marketing manager at River Ridge.

The health fair will feature a variety of healthcare providers, who will offer attendees general health screenings, free health information kits, wellness demonstrations and door prizes.

“The screenings are an important measure for early disease detection and will go a long way in helping participants lead happier and healthier lives,” according to organizers.

“The regional health fair offers tips and resources for staying healthy while helping residents connect to local resources in a fun and exciting way,” said Denise Scruggs, director of the Beard Center on Aging at the Lynchburg University. “We hope the community will join us on the 25th for health information, health screenings, wellness demonstrations, door prizes and fun!”
