Trahan announces $3.9 million grant for Community Health Connections of Fitchburg – Sentinel and Enterprise

LOWELL — Congresswoman Lori Trahan announced Friday that the Department of Health and Human Services has provided federal funding of $3,896,605 to Fitchburg’s Community Health Connections Inc..

“For the past twenty years, Community Health Connections has provided the Greater Fitchburg area with exemplary care. This new federal investment is essential to support the daily efforts of nurses, doctors and support staff who work tirelessly on behalf of their patients. As a strong supporter of Community Health Centers, I will continue to advocate for additional funding so that Community Health Connections and each of our health centers have the resources to meet the needs of their patients and communities,” said Trahan.

“Community Health Connections is pleased that the federal government continues to support ongoing operations that allow us to serve those in need of health care in the region. Without federal support, we would be unable to reach the most vulnerable populations in our communities,” said John DeMalia, President and CEO of Community Health Connections.

Also recently, to further support the work of Third District Community Health Centers, Trahan announced that more than $2.7 million in US federal bailout funding was being awarded to facilities in Fitchburg, Lowell and Lawrence. Community Health Connections Inc. received $772,184 from this funding.
